Santiago, Chile, July 8, 2026. Grenergy continues to strengthen its corporate structure with the launch of GR Data, its new digital infrastructure platform for data centers in Chile.
To this end, the company has just appointed Gonzalo Atán as Managing Director of Data Centers in Chile. Gonzalo brings more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications, IT and data center industries, and has held leadership positions at companies such as Telefónica, Samsung, Huawei and Entel. He has also led regional data center businesses at companies including Nabiax and NextStream and played a key role in the founding of the Chilean Data Center Association, contributing to the development of the local digital infrastructure ecosystem.
GR Data: a digital infrastructure platform with an initial 1 GW pipeline
Grenergy, leveraging its ability to generate highly competitive clean energy, presented GR Data, its data center platform in Chile, last May as part of its 2026-28 strategic update.
The company aims to contribute to the deployment of AI in Latin America and attract strategic partners to a country that, thanks to its leadership in renewable energy and privileged international connectivity — including low-latency submarine cables — has a solid foundation to establish itself as a data center hub in the region.
Grenergy also has strategic locations, secured grid connections and a specialized team, consolidating its positioning as a relevant player in the development of Chile’s new digital infrastructure.
The first development will be Atacama Data, an AI training campus near the Elena hybrid plant, which will start with 400 MW IT, scalable to 1 GW IT, and with secured connection at Kimal. It will enable large-scale AI model training using renewable energy and without water consumption.
This project will be complemented by the Polpaico Campus Norte and Alto Jahuel Campus Sur cloud campuses, which together will add 600 MW IT next to the country’s main connectivity nodes.
According to David Ruiz de Andrés, CEO of Grenergy: “Leveraging our ability to generate competitive clean energy, we want to develop GR Data as a platform that contributes to positioning Chile as a leading digital hub in Latin America. We are delighted to continue bringing new talent into the company.”
