  • In addition, it has just secured €8 million in capital grants from the Polish government for other smaller standalone projects (136 MWh) that Grenergy plans to develop in the country.
  • The company is thus strengthening the rollout of Greenbox, its stand alone platform in Europe, with a 31 GWh pipeline.

Madrid, January 13, 2026. Grenergy has secured capacity contracts for 5 stand-alone storage projects in Poland in the latest auction organised by Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne (PSE), the country’s electricity system operator.

The five stand-alone projects awarded capacity contracts—named Fred, George, Lucius, Hagrid, and Harry—have a combined power of 534 MW, representing 2.1 GWh of storage. They will operate as reserve capacity for the Polish electricity system during periods when the minimum system capacity cannot be guaranteed.

In total, Grenergy has secured more than 11% of the total storage capacity offered in this auction.

Starting in January 2030, these services will be remunerated at a fixed price (indexed to CPI) of PLN 465.02/kW per year throughout the 17‑year contract period. In total, the company has obtained a guaranteed minimum economic allocation exceeding €132 million.

Capacity revenues constitute part of the revenue stack or income structure envisaged for each project. These will be complemented by revenues from energy trading, as well as participation in other regulated markets, such as ancillary services, which can be structured through tolling agreements.

In addition, Grenergy has just secured a grant of 34 million PLN (around 8 million EUR) awarded by the Polish government for another four stand‑alone projects (136 MWh), which the company expects to bring into operation before 2028.

These grants, announced in 2024, are financed through the EU’s Modernisation Fund and are intended to boost the development of energy storage in the country. In total, 128 projects have benefited from the program, which has a total budget of 1 billion euros.

In total, the company has a stand-alone pipeline in Poland of 5 GWh.

Boost to Greenbox

This award represents a boost to the rollout of Greenbox, the stand-alone storage platform in Europe that the company presented at its latest Capital Markets Day.

With a total pipeline of 31 GWh in stand-alone battery systems, Greenbox is consolidating itself as one of the leading platforms in Europe. To achieve this, it focuses on key markets where Grenergy already has a presence: Poland (5 GWh pipeline), Romania (7 GWh), Germany (3 GWh), Italy (5.8 GWh), Spain (6 GWh), and the United Kingdom (4 GWh).

In Spain, the stand-alone battery plant in Oviedo, Greenbox’s flagship project in Europe, will be the first step in its development within the Spanish and European markets, with a capacity of 600 MWh and commissioning expected in early 2027.

The total storage pipeline, including stand-alone and hybrid Grenergy projects, amounts to 75 GWh.
