  • Grenergy, a leader in sustainability, is launching a new phase of its ESG strategy, focused on maximising its impact and generating tangible value in the communities where it operates

Madrid, April 24, 2026. Grenergy is strengthening its commitment to sustainability to continue leading the sector, placing impact at the core of its strategy through innovation and the continuous improvement of its social and environmental practices.

The company has appointed María Rodríguez Gismero as Director of Sustainability. A forestry engineer, she brings over 20 years of experience in sustainability and a strong international track record in Asia, Europe and the Americas, covering ESG capital markets, senior corporate management, consulting, auditing and fieldwork.

Rodríguez returns to Grenergy after her period in the global ESG Markets team at Santander CIB, to take on the leadership of the Sustainability division, which she helped to establish in its early stages. Previously, she worked for over a decade at the Rainforest Alliance, both in Europe and in the field in Asia, within the Forestry division and with a focus on responsible forest management.

María holds a master’s degree in forestry engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. She has been a member of the Quality Panel of the High Conservation Values Resource Network and has taught on the Master’s in Sustainable Development and Corporate Responsibility at EOI.

Her role will be scaling up a key area for the company and promoting initiatives that generate concrete outcomes with a real impact on business, the natural environment and local communities.

The Sustainability department is part of the Strategy & Capital Markets division, led by Daniel Lozano, a member of the company’s Management Committee.

In a context of increasing sustainability and corporate governance challenges, Grenergy reaffirms its commitment to advancing a key agenda for creating long-term value across business, social and environmental spheres.

As Daniel Lozano points out.

Objective: ESG leadership

In 2023, Grenergy presented its ESG Roadmap 2024–2026, in which the company set out specific objectives and lines of action to reinforce its position as a sustainability leader in the energy sector.

In 2025, the company took a further step in this roadmap with the publication of its Climate Change and Biodiversity policies, the update of its decarbonisation plan, aligned with its focus on storage and its Net Zero 2040 commitment, and the completion of a TNFD analysis to identify nature-related risks and opportunities.

These developments reinforce Grenergy’s position as one of the best-performing companies in the sector in terms of sustainability, as reflected in its strong ratings in the main ESG ratings.
